Backyard Nature Lesson, Part 1

A pair of robins has discovered what they think is the most marvelous nest site--




I don't think they realize that they are going to be Nature Science Lab for two small boys. They will be observed very carefully. Hopefully they will not be poked or prodded, I've talked to the boys long and hard about that, which is why we decided to leave the nest there. We'll see how this goes. It could be really exciting watching the whole show us close. I will try to document each stage in this blog... won't that be exciting!

I hope Mama Bird can get enough peace though. Being a mama myself, I know something of her needs. One of MY mama needs just got met, finally, by the long-awaited purchase of a glider rocker. It's so soothing to sit in it and rock one of my babies. The chair itself is kind of plain vanilla, so I threw a homemade quilt on it to make it a little more homey-looking. Now it's almost as cozy as a bird's nest.
