Ellie's First Meal

Ellie's been awfully fussy lately, and I wondered if it was because she was hungry and ready for solids. So last night I dragged out the high chair and scrubbed it down. She looked pleased to sit in it.


Then I ground up some brown rice with a baby food grinder, watered it down a bit, and spooned it in. Most of it came right back out at me. Joey said "She looks like Saint Nicholas, Mom!"


Honestly, she was much more interested in the spoon than in the rice.



It was a quite a mess, and she only ate maybe a teaspoon before she started refusing it. Then she was fussy all night long. I'm not so sure she's ready to really start eating "people food" yet. I think we'll wait a few more weeks before we do it again.
