Gardening Again
Here's some more good and bad from my garden. First of all, my marigolds are thriving for some reason, despite the stunted growth of everything around them:
And here is some Swiss chard. This is one of my favorite vegetables. My parents grew it when I was little and I always hated it, but last year when I was pregnant with Ellie it tasted so good to me and now I adore it. It is such a pretty plant too, especially this variety, called "Bright Lights."
Here are my corn, tomato, and broccoli plants. Growing, just behind where they could be. But considering all the factors against my garden this year I'm pleased they are as big as they are.
I bought this pyramid strawberry bed this year after seeing it in All the garden catalogs. But why did all the plants on the lower tiers die when the ones on top are thriving? It's the shiny metal sides-- I think they are frying the plants. I'm not sure I'm going to keep this. It was a fun experiment though.
