Kitchen Helpers

Working with a three- and five-year-old in the kitchen is very exciting! It's part of my effort to be a more hands-on mom. I have discovered that my kids don't respond very well to me barking at them to pick up the toys while I lay on the couch and read a book (surprise!), so I am trying to give up more of my selfish pursuits and become a more committed mother (Sarah A). Sometimes this makes me want to scream, like when Sam flings flour all over the kitchen or when Joey keeps saying "MY TURN MY TURN MY TURN" but if I don't let them help now they won't want to anymore when they're old enough to be of real use. Besides, they have cute frog aprons they need to wear more often.
